A Weekend of Fun! by Lori

1/16/09 - 1/20/09 - Wow! What a banner weekend for the Klozik clan!! It started with 2 'cold days' off of school. Then, Zack and Savannah got to spend Friday thru Monday with Shannon, Mike and the kids. They were so excited to be able to sleep over all those days. They went to a bowling birthday party, had a couple days of sledding, and nights camping out in the living room in a home made 'tent'. Then on Monday, they went to stay overnight with Grandma Lola and Grandpa Ken.

A big thanks to Shannon, Mike, Grandma and Grandpa for showing the kids such a good time!

Meanwhile, Lou and I were able to take a 4 day trip to Milwaukee, WI. It was so nice to be able to focus on just the two of us...not that we didn't miss and think of the kids every day. And they missed us too, since they called each day to keep us updated on their fun shenanigans!!

Lou and I did some site seeing and eating out at local restaurants. We were able to relax in the hotel pool and hot tub. The first night there, we had the pool and hot tub to ourselves. I found it funny how every so often, a hotel employee would come walking through. I think they were checking up on us...making sure we were behaving ourselves!!

We had a nice wine tasting at the Cedar Creek Winery and perused the goods for sale at the Cedar Creek Settlement shops. We also scored some yummy meat products at Usinger's, in downtown Milwaukee.

Another highlight of our trip was the Milwaukee Art Museum. It was pretty quiet because of the cold, so we almost had the whole place to ourselves! I also appreciated that they let me take lots of pictures of their diverse artworks. (You can see more art pics on our Shutterfly Share page.)

On our last day, we took a tour of the Harley Davidson Power Train factory. We were the only 2 people who showed up, so we got a personalized hour long tour. How cool is that? It was neat to see the robots working on the assembly line.

Well, all good things must come to an end. We had an awesome time, but it was great to pick up the kids on Tuesday and go back to our cozy home...recharged and ready to face the new year!
