November 2009 Recap! by Lori

Wow...what a month November was! The biggest new is, of course, the birth of Dylan William. A big congrats to Sharon and Ed! He is a cutie pie and we have gotten a couple visits with him already! Sharon and baby Dylan are finally home from the hospital and settling in. He is such an angel and a blessing!

Some proud cousins!

And a proud Uncle and Auntie!!

I thought is was so neat that Dylan was born on Louie's bday. Happy Birthday Hunny!

The kids had tons of fun celebrating Tyler's 11th birthday. I just can't get over how much they have all grown! Grandpa Ken is in this picture somewhere amongst his grandkids...lol!

Lou and I got to go to a Bears game. It was the first time for us at the new Soldiers Field. It was an absolutely beautiful day...such warm weather for Nov. We felt like kids again! The bears lost, but we had a great time anyways!

And Zack got to go to his first Notre Dame game with Lou, courtesy of Meg's Dad. It was a neat experience for him and an exciting game. And a big thanks also to Meg and Vince for putting them up for the night at the farm. Savannah and I were sad to miss the opportunity to go. :)

Halloween 2009: by Lori

Thanks Sharon, for hosting another fun Halloween. The kids had a blast getting lots of treats and playing together. It was a little brisk, but at least there was no rain! Now we have plenty of yummy candy to last through the long, cold winter months ahead...lol

Sharon&Ed's Baby Shower: by Lori

Sharon looked so radiant and beautiful today at her baby shower. There were lots of ladies on hand to help celebrate her new baby boy, coming soon! We had a very nice time, except for missing Justine. I know it was hard on both sisters that Justine was too sick to be there. Baby Cole received lots of wonderful gifts to start him on his way. What a generous family we have!!

We all can not wait to meet our new little nephew.
Hopefully, 7 weeks will fly by...especially for Sharon's sake...lol!!

Boo At The Zoo 2009: by Lori

What a gorgeous day for 'Boo at the Zoo' this year! We all had lots of fun hanging out with the Janik's and Przyzycki's! (We missed you Brian!) It was just such a nice day. Daddy even joined in the festivities...he hadn't been to the zoo in like 20 years!! It was really neat to see the kids all dressed up in their costumes. What a variety! I am glad we made the outing. It was bittersweet for me, with Mama not being there. The zoo was one of her favorite places to go, especially for holidays. These next few months will be extra hard, with all the holidays and family gatherings. So, if I am a little 'weird', that's the reason. I am sure that she is happy we are all getting out there and 'doing' things. It is so easy to just want to take a pass on the excursions that Mama was a part of...which happened to be a lot. Thank goodness the kids give us a reason to experience life and infect us with their excitement. I have to keep myself from withdrawing into my 'quiet/introverted' little world. I also thank God for my job at Tyler School for this reason too. It keeps me 'out there'. Ok, enough sappiness....

I love this pic of Grandpa Ken and Alex...Alex just keeps getting cuter and cuter!

Chris & Amber's Wedding Reception: by Lori

10/09/09 - Announcing....Mr. and Mrs. Gordon!! We celebrated the marriage of Amber and Chris last night. Couldn't make the ceremony since we both had to work, but heard it was lovely. Hopefully, I will get to see pictures of that soon. But boy did we party like rock stars last night...and realized today that having that much fun and crawling into bed at 3:00 am has consequences! So, we are laying low today.

It was so nice to catch up with family that we had not seen in a LONG time. I don't think I have ever seen Granny looking so fancy, with her sparkly suit. She looked so vibrant! 90 years have nothing on her and Grandpa!!

Well, cheers to Amber and Chris, as they start their lives together. May they have many happy years and lots of little ones! ;)

Alex looked so adorable in his spiffy 'tuxedo'!!

Sox Game 2009: by Lori

We had a fun night on Sept 22, watching the Sox lose to Milwaukee...lol!! It was a close game, though, with a few home runs and fireworks! We had nice weather and the kids had a blast. It was hard getting up the next day. Yeah, I know...keeping the kids up late on a school night, some kind of parents we are. Hey, once in a while is ok! I think I had the hardest time getting up the next morning and I was dragging all day. What ever happened to the days when we (Lou and I, of course) could be up late and just hop out of bed the next morning, with all the energy in the world? Oh, that's right...40 happened. Silly me! Oh well, we keep on keeping on!!

Sharon, with Baby on board, looked so cute!!

Happy Bday Savannah! by Lori

Wow! I am exhausted today! But throwing Savannah a bday party was worth it. The consensus was that a good time was had by all. That's all a host/hostess can hope for...lol! The day turned out to be beautiful. I was a little nervous in the morning, with all those clouds and threats of rain. But mother nature smiled at us instead. It was great to see family and friends; some we hadn't seen in a long time, but a few were really missed that could not be there. Thanks to everyone that brought a dish. There was so much food and lots of variety. There goes my diet this week!

And so ends our last hurrah of summer '09.

What a crew!! And nobody got hurt during the mad dash for candy!

Alexander's Baptism: by Lori

Our nephew, Alex, is so adorable!! We got to spend a lovely day, last Sunday, watching him be baptized in the Lord. He was a perfect angel, of course. Hardly made a peep during the service. It was nice to spend time with the family afterwards. He has gained 4 pounds already...growing so fast!! Now if he could just sleep a little bit longer at night, so his mommy and daddy can get some sleep. We can't wait to see him again this weekend!

May God bless you all your life, Alex.

A Bridal Shower for Amber! by Lori

We had a lovely time at Amber's house yesterday for her bridal shower. Amber and Chris got a lot of goodies to start their life together. It is hard to believe that their wedding is coming up so soon! I still remember holding Chris as a baby. And now he is getting ready to start his own family. Yikes...now I feel old...again. I am so happy for them and wish them the best. They make the cutest couple! It was also so nice to see my aunts and Granny. We don't get to see enough of each other!

Savannah's 9th Bday! by Lori

Wow! Where does the time go? On 8/12/09, we celebrated Savannah's 9th birthday. She is getting so tall and mature. We are so proud of her!! We had a fun day at Chuckie Cheese and shopping at Toys R Us. Later, Grandpa Ken brought a cake for her to enjoy. It was a very nice surprise. And a little bittersweet too, not having Grandma Lola there also. That's so hard, especially for me. It will take time to get used to her not being at family gatherings. None the less, the kids will keep growing and we still have to keep on keeping on.

July...What a Month! by Lori

Yep...it's been a little while since I last posted. July went by like a whirlwind. It was a month filled with blessings and healing for us. We spent a good portion of it out of town with a 2 week road trip to Florida and a long weekend in Michigan. Were we running away? Yes, I think that was a big part of it. It's much easier dealing with sadness when you are away from the ordinary. Well, it was a much needed therapy for the 4 of us. But I think it brought us closer together, spending so much time together, seeing new places and discovering new experiences.

God blessed us with a new nephew. Julie and Brian are the proud parents of Alexander. And I am sure that Mama is so proud of Julie becoming a new mom. Watching from Heaven, her new little angel.

We got to spend time with family...boating, traveling together, and enjoying time together at Meg's family's farm in MI.

The kids had so much fun at the farm! They loved riding the waves at the beach, making smores over the bonfire and just running in the fresh air and wide open space!

I feel like I have gotten my head almost 'right' again. And with just 2 weeks until school starts, I am so thankful for this time off of work. Again, so blessed to be working in education and having so much time off with the family.

We've been doing some sprucing up around the house; painting, new carpet, organizing the clutter. We are feeling pretty productive...I need to go back to work with things in order! Got to stay busy...lol

The loves of our life!

Oklahoma Trip: by Lori

Well, we are back home, safe and sound. We stayed on Grand Lake in north east OK (Monkey Island to be exact...and no, we did not see any swinging in the trees). It was just beautiful...hot, but peaceful. A nice wind off the lake seemed to cool things off a little and kept alot of the bugs away. I didn't really want to go, since we had rented the place thinking that my Mom and Dad would be coming with us. The empty bedroom was a sad reminder, but Mama always lived life to the fullest. We felt she would have wanted us to take the kids there. I had alot of quiet time for reflection on life and my loved ones and it was something that I really needed. Keeping the kids busy with new experiences seemed to have helped them cope a little too. It was bittersweet, since I could not share our fun times and silly pictures with my mom, like I have always done after a trip away. Not being able to call and tell her we are home safe...life still seems so surreal to me. I know that everyone says that time will heal...well, I guess only time will tell.

Yes, Lou saved Savannah from the big, bad croc...he only needed 10 stitches! Just kidding...

This emu kept eyeballing Lou, not sure if it wanted to kiss or kick him, though! The same goes for this alpaca!! It must be Lou's magnetic personality...I was jealous!!

Kiss me baby!

In Memorium

Our Precious Mother and Grandmother,
Lola Janik 3/10/44 - 6/09/09

Mama, I have the right words in my heart, but the ones in my head just don't seem enough to portray what you have meant to all of us. All that I know right now, is that you are at peace, but we miss you so much...why did you have to leave us so soon? We miss your laugh, your words of wisdom, your awesome sense of humor, your strength and vibrancy. You touched so many people, with your love and caring, throughout your life and your passing has left such a huge hole. Thank you for being such an awesome mother to Julie, Michael and me, and a wonderful grandmother to our children. I pray that I can pass on to Zack and Savannah all the things that you have taught and inspired in us. It's not fair....all your suffering and now this tremendous loss. Savannah said to me, "I only got to know Grandma for 8 years, it's not fair Mom". How can the simple words of a child cut so deep? At least Savannah had 8 years, but how come Baby Przyzycki did not get to have any time with Grandma Lola? That is SO unfair!! I had 41 years with you and that wasn't enough, by far. But, God gave you 65 years full of love, so who are we to question His plan. I know that we will be together again, someday, in Heaven, so that gives some comfort. I love you Mama.
